Netflix had an awesome year in 2016. On the verge of its 20th anniversary, Netflix has officially established itself as the go-to global entertainment powerhouse.

According to its fourth-quarter results report, 19 million new subscribers were added last year, with the international market accounting for 47 percent of the subscriber base. Of those 19 million new users, 14 million are based outside of the United States.

The streaming provider also received praise for its amazing content. The success of original shows like ‘House of Cards,’ ‘Orange is the New Black’ and ‘Stranger Things’ earned them 54 Emmy nominations last year.
