Many Americans bought the shares, and stock prices increased rapidly.\n In late October 1929, however, there were rumours that the United States would soon be in a recession. Many people then sold their shares, and stocks prices in the Unites States fell sharply. Where the previous yield per acre was 27 bushel, it had to drop to 3 in 1937.
