Should you eat a percentage of 80% carbs, 10% protein, and 10% fats? Or should you base most of your diet on proteins? \n\nThese ratios can be useful to look at if you are interested in the debates surrounding which one is likely to help us feel better, think clearer, and stay healthy. But it can be really complicated to work out, and if funds are making the whole thing seem like it's meant for someone with a lot of time on their hands and a lot of money in their pocket to continuously go shopping to find the ratio that works for them, there has to be a simpler way to do it. \n\nAnd there is. Read on to find out how I'm working it all out.","content_type":"","title":"","shrink":null},{"type":"particle","particle_id":892954,"object_id":"Louise_Sopher1365756468","particle_type":"image","picture":"http://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/infogram-particles-700/Louise_Sopher1365756468.jpg"},{"type":"particle","particle_id":892929,"object_id":"Louise_Sopher1365756216","particle_type":"bodytext","picture":null,"text":"Just assign a different amount of money to each category of food that you eat. An easy way to do this is to look at fruit and veg boxes and meat boxes. See our 'Shop Easy' infographic for more info on this. \n\nWhat's great about Paleo Wales meat boxes, or Riverford, Able & Cole, and many other types of boxes, is that they tell you how much you're getting for how much money. You can put the meat in the freezer, so you can make one box last two weeks or longer. \n\nAs for fish, check out fishinaboxshop.co.uk, but bear in mind that they charge for postage. At the very least, you can see that a box costing £11 should apparently provide four portions of fish. \n\nNot bad for estimations, I'd say. Let's have a look at some charts:","content_type":"","title":"","shrink":null},{"type":"chart","chart_id":1408207,"object_id":"Louise_Sopher_1365754877","chart_type_nr":25,"data":[[["Type of food","Spending per week (£)"],["Fish","11"],["Fruit & Veg","20"],["Extras including eggs, flours, nuts, milk, powders, stock, etc","11"],["Meats & Poultry","20"]]],"custom":{},"colors":[],"dimensions":[],"modifier":0,"sheetnames":[],"sheets_settings":[]},{"type":"particle","particle_id":892765,"object_id":"Louise_Sopher1365755127","particle_type":"bodytext","picture":null,"text":"I've chosen to spend more on fruit and veg (mostly vegetables though), and on meats & poultry. My 'extras' will often consist of treats, flavours for foods, and ingredients used to make baked goods. \n\nThese should last far longer than a week, so I've set myself a lower boundary to spend on them. Fish tends to be more expensive, so £11 a week equates to about four portions. \n\nThis totals at £62 a week, but this can be further reduced by replacing the occasional meal with a smoothie or a starch (cheaper), or using pseudo grains like buckwheat. Try getting this down to £50 a week and then further down from there. I'd say it's possible.
