Group one was taught the Highland Fling using the Simplify Method and group two was taught the Highland Fling using the Iterate Method. Each group was given a highland dance lesson for two hours. At the end of the lesson I got them to preform the fling in groups of five and I marked them out of four in memorization, technique, timing, and enthusiasm. The biggest difference was how well the dancers were able to memorize the routine. I presume that teaching the routine first was helpful for this because the students had more opportunity for repetition. In the end what I believe this experiment has proven is that each individual learns differently and no matter what you do, there is never going to be 'one' specific way to teach dance. I think that when one is instructing someone for anything they must cater their teaching to how their student learns, know their students goals, and have clear understanding of their students feelings.
