Race has impacted American History and it&#39;s culture by giving white Americans the advantages throughout History while giving the disadvantages to African Americans. Then english men started going to Africa and kidnapping Africans to come to work as indentured servant at first. These black servants had a chance at freedom and the ability of social mobility, but as time went by, black servants were beginning to be treated more like slaves, in order to; appeal to white indentured servants and social mobility was denied. For example, the number of slave imports was greatly increasing at a very unstable rate during this boom. In a set of twenty years the number of slaves increased by 7,000 people. The judical system at this time determined in 1680 that slaves codes were formed created a dfference between servants and slaves. New laws were passed out to peak interest in White indenture servants. This falls under the Judicial, Government, and Economic institutions because the laws were passed to help get more money. Government passed these new laws to appeal to whites in England, the Judicial branch helped enforce these laws; such as, indentured servants having the right to complain about their masters for no fee. Only indentured servants could complain about their masters while slaves could not. In fact, slaves had no rights to complain about their master in front of a court. Indentured servants had a much better life after the transformation due to the belief in White Supremacy and White Power. Slaves would have to endure these laws and treatment even after they became free. Blacks voted other blacks into office as well as Republicans set on making blacks equal during the Reconstruction period, but everything changed when Southern Whites (KKK & Democrats) began Deconstruction. To gain power back from the blacks, Southern states relied on multiple new laws and the intimidation of blacks via the KKK. Laws such as the Poll Tax, the Literacy Test, and the Grandfather Clause prevented blacks from voting and the KKK threatened to lynch those who tried to. Institutional racism, White Supremacy, and White Power was defiantly prevalent during these times. The government passed the laws, in which, Blacks suffered from because they were denied of their right to vote, the judicial institution didn&#39;t help enforce the laws blacks held as citizens, and domestic because the local community of whites lynched blacks for the smallest of violations. Jim\b Crow picked up where Deconstruction left off at, with new laws being passed to limit the social mobility of blacks and the KKK getting away with the lynches of blacks. The government formed Jim Crow laws as way to show that White Power and White Supremacy is still alive and that blacks are still inferior. Racial segregation was prevalent throughout America, as both the North and the South had Jim Crow Laws. This separation of races formed by these laws led to African Americans living in and working in poor conditions, which was deemed \"normal\" at this time. The poor conditions blacks lived in caused many of them to die. The life expectancy was 52.3 (males) and 55.6 (females) compared to 62.8 for white males and 67.5 for white women. Media has portrayed African Americans as criminals in society. When people see this in media they get stereotypes that all African Americans are bad people and they always have that following around them. It also affects the Judaical system who sentences them to prison and gives them unfair trails because they are programmed and raised to think African Americans are violent, evil, and guilty. \"War on Drugs\" and \"Tough on Crime\" unfairly put African-Americans in a negative light. African American are considered to be economically poor through the media stereotypes because of the ghettos they live in. The media never really shows blacks on T.V. making it in life unless they&#39;re an athlete. Notice how Malcolm X is barely taught about during Black History Month and we learn about Dr. King or Rosa Parks throughout those times. In the media, the black man is always the villain.
