While many may see this as awful, it's really a great opportunity to have a national conversation about these things.\n\nThere is no doubt that racial profiling does occur and that it has been made illegal in order to protect innocent individuals. The question is, why does it occur? Is it purely discrimination, or is it partially based upon fact?\n\nIt bears reminding that, regardless of race, people should be looked upon as individuals and not be unfairly blamed for the actions of others. That said, members of any group (or community) will ultimately be affected by the actions of the other members within that group (or community). Whether or not they are positively or negatively affected depends upon the actions of the group members themselves. \n\nSo, let's dig in. First, let's look at demographic breakdown. Whites make up the majority of the population. Since we're focusing on Black crime vs. White crime, we'll leave out the others for now. We DO know that in regard to nonviolent crimes, such as DWI/alcohol offenses, blacks and whites both commit crimes nearly identical to their representative population. However, in violent/aggressive crimes, blacks commit them at a rate many times higher than their representative population, while whites tend to commit them at a rate markedly lower than their representative population. \n\nIt has been argued by many that whites simply get away with crime more - that they're let off because they're white - but that isn't true. Along with Whites, Asians, Hawaiians, Native Americans and every other race reveal crime rates consistent (or even much lower than) their representative population. If systemic racism were true, the other races wouldn't be getting arrested, tried and convicted in accordance with their representative share of the overall population. The \"bad habits\" within each race - crimes occurring more frequently then their share of the population - become glaringly apparent. Alcohol is an issue with Native Americans and Whites. Prostitution is an issue among Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders, compared to their population numbers. We could do this with many more crimes, but there simply isn't room here.\n\nIn addition, it is illogical to believe that victims would intentionally report crimes incorrectly, attributing the crime to someone of a different race, unless the victim were actually hoping nobody would get caught. It runs completely contrary to their desires: to punish the actual offender. In order to solve the problem, it must become intolerable... and any effective solution, no doubt, must come from within the black community itself. The prisons are full and it's not stopping
