Firstly, we see that the lower class consisted of nearly 850,000 families , filling over 82% of the English population, yet they earned the least. The lower class earned the least amount of the social classes even though they were the biggest in population. This means that it was very hard to people to provide for their families and the lower class lived very tough lives in comparison to the other classes. In fact, the average yearly salary for a lower class family in 17th century England was less than 11 pounds, equivalent to 16 Canadian dollars. Imagine living a whole year with 16 dollars, people in 21st century Canada couldn't survive with that amount. We also learned that as the years progressed, more and more citizens were becoming illiterate and properly educated. The rise in the education of women in 17th century England and 18th century France was a 13% rise!","content_type":"","title":"","shrink":null},{"type":"particle","particle_id":865468,"object_id":"rdhillon1365556429","particle_type":"bodytitle","picture":null,"text":"Life as a 17th Century English Agricultural Labourer:","content_type":"","title":"","shrink":null},{"type":"particle","particle_id":865474,"object_id":"rdhillon1365556509","particle_type":"bodytext","picture":null,"text":"In 17th Century England, the pay for an agricultural labourer varied depending on the gender of the said worker. The males were paid 10d per day and the females were paid 4d a day even though they did the same work. In this imaginary family, both the father and mother worked 6 days a week, their weekly income would be around 84d or around 4 shillings a week. This amount of money in Canadian currency would be equivalent to only 8 cents. If they made 84d per week, if they spent 30% of their income on food that would be around 25.2d allowance on weekly food. There are many ways the family can spend this money but the one that makes the most sense considering their family size would be to buy 2 kilograms of meat, a kilogram of cheese, 6 oranges, and 3 lemons. That is not enough food to feed a family that size, so it shows us that life as an agricultural worker was very tough and paid very little.","content_type":"","title":"","shrink":null}],"theme":{"createdAt":"2016-04-22T04:54:07.000Z","updatedAt":"2016-12-28T10:33:53.000Z","logoImages":[""],"charts":{"table":{"shapeFill":"e84f2c","headerColor":"#6f6f6f","cellColor":"#6f6f6f","headerBackground":"#eeeeee","cellBackground":"#ffffff"},"treemap":{"labels":{"name":{"fontFamily":"PT
