A. HIGHEST TOTAL CENSUS ENTRIES BY COUNTRY
This chart shows countries with the highest number of entries.
B. HIGHEST TOTAL CENSUS ENTRIES (WITHOUT USA)
Since chart 1A's bar for United States is so long that it dwarfs the lower entries, the below chart removes the USA bar so that numbers for other countries can be more clearly seen.
C. COUNTRY TOTALS AS PERCENTAGES OF TOTAL ENTRIES
You can hover your cursor over country names and sections of the chart to match each country to its percentage number.
A. CENSUS ENTRIES AS % OF EACH COUNTRY'S POPULATION
This chart shows how the number of heathens in each country relates to that country's overall population. For example, heathens comprise .3030% of people living in Iceland. Only countries with the highest numbers are shown.
B. ENTRIES AS % OF POPULATION (WITHOUT ICELAND)
Since chart 2A's bar for Iceland is so long that it dwarfs the lower entries, the below chart removes the Iceland bar so that numbers for other countries can be more clearly seen.
This map shows all countries with entries in the census. You can zoom in, move in any direction and hover over any country to see its name and number of heathens. Please note that countries with as few as one entry are colored in, so the map gives an exaggerated sense of world heathen density.
B. NUMBER OF HEATHENS BY REGION
The regions in this chart were taken from the United Nations World Population 2012 chart. There are many ways to divide the planet into regions; this is just one of many possibilities.
6. HEATHENS IN RELATION TO OTHER RELIGIONS
A. UNITED STATES: HEATHENS & ADHERENTS OF OTHER RELIGIONS AS % OF TOTAL UNITED STATES POPULATION
This chart shows how U.S. heathens relate to other religious groups in the United States as a percentage of total population. Please note that the percentages do not add up to 100, as not all religions are represented in this chart.
The chart has two viewing options. "Including Christians" makes plain the fact that Christianity completely swamps all other religious traditions in the United States. "Non-Christians Only" shows only minority faiths, so that their relationships to one another are made more apparent.
B. ICELAND: HEATHENS & ADHERENTS OF OTHER RELIGIONS AS % OF TOTAL ICELANDIC POPULATION
This chart shows how the number of Icelandic heathens relate to other religious groups in Iceland.
The chart has two viewing options. "Including Christians" shows that, as in the U.S., Christians vastly outnumber followers of other traditions. "Non-Christians Only" shows only minority faiths and underscores the relatively large number of heathens in Iceland.
TOTAL NUMBER OF WORLDWIDE HEATHENS, ADJUSTED FOR ICELANDIC DISPARITY
No census can have 100% participation or 100% accuracy. There are many ways the number of entries in the Worldwide Heathen Census can be understood and extrapolated from. I would like to suggest a possible way to adjust the numbers.
Iceland has a unique situation. Due to its small overall population and proportionally high number of heathens, there are actually official tallies of the number of heathens in the country. National Statistical Institute of Iceland states that there are 2,173 heathens in Iceland.
This official total is 2.173 times the number of census entries from Iceland. If we take the Icelandic heathen population as a control group, we can perhaps get a more accurate total number of worldwide heathens that takes into account heathens around the world who did not join the census.
Below are the total number of census entries received worldwide and the total worldwide number multiplied by 2.173. If you accept this adjusted number as a possibility, I leave it to you to re-examine the charts above with this higher number in mind.
